I favor en plein aire where I am alone with Nature’s sounds, scents, and secrets. My watermedia paintings are inspired by my love of life in all forms, and my concern for the environment and the people sharing it. Debbie is an established, recognized, awarded, and productive painter. She is represented in galleries, corporations, medical institutions, and in private collections. She feels very honored to have her artwork accepted into juried National Exhibitions as well as state and regional shows, receiving awards of merit and excellence. Debbie was fortunate to have studied with distinguished artists throughout her career and inspired by her painter grandmother on the banks of the Mississippi River! Debbie was raised in Minnesota and educated at Macalester College earning degrees in Chemistry, Biology, and Botany. She worked professionally as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) in MN, HI, AZ, and CO—all wonderful places for a watercolorist! She is a Master Naturalist and has been an Interpretive Guide for Larimer County, served for many years as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and also a Boy Scout and school volunteer. Being active in sports has kept her in shape for painting on location which can be challenging in rain, wind, or snow! She loves time with her 3 families and 6 grandchildren and enjoys travel with her husband, Gene, always bringing painting supplies! Debbie shares her love of painting by donating her time and talent to teaching and mentoring scouts, cancer patients, and students at schools, churches, community events and art centers.  She also attends workshops regionally and nationally and is active in the Thompson Valley Art League and is a Signature member of the Colorado Watercolor Society and Western Colorado Watercolor Society.
