Class Schedule
Depending on individual circumstances, some of our teachers may need to ask their students to wear masks.
The Art Center offers adult classes in a variety of media throughout the year, primarily in the summer months. These are taught by well-known artists from the area and beyond, as well as by Art Center artists. Intergenerational and youth classes are provided as well.

"Helpful Drawing Suggestions for Painting Outside"
Painting with Cathy Goodale
We will paint on location and apply 9 drawing suggestions that will help you draw the subject you want to paint. When a subject is not drawn well it diminishes the overall painting. Bring a notebook for the discussion on drawing skills and your outdoor painting equipment.

2025 will present another fabulous opportunity to paint with well-known local artist, Cathy Goodale, who will be teaching monthly at the Art Center from January through December ’25, with the exception of the summer months, June, July and August. Sign up for any number of classes in advance or one at a time, as the year progresses. Each class will meet from 10 am to 4 pm in the Art Center classroom, unless otherwise noted. Students will provide their own supplies/equipment. Bring a sack lunch or grab something quick nearby. Contact Cathy at cathygoodale@mac.com in case you have specific questions about the classes themselves. Her website is cathygoodale.com. The Art Center will handle all reservations, payments, and other housekeeping details. Each class includes a critique, a short demo, and a lot of “one to one” attention. Online critiques are included. Paint in oil or watercolor. Cathy shares the following mantra for ’25: “Creativity is piercing the mundane to find the marvelous!” (Bill Moyer) Cathy adds, “Let’s get busy and find the marvelous!”

"Let’s Throw Some Paint Around"
Painting with Cathy Goodale
Let it happen! We will be outside the Art Center with buckets of water and paint. Join us for a color study of warm and cool colors. Sometimes the paint will suggest a subject for your creation, or you can bring photos of birds, flowers, animals or another idea that might interest you. It is amazing what you learn when you play with paint and color. Bring several pieces of watercolor paper. We will throw 3 or 4 sheets of watercolor. We will move inside to evaluate and paint.
