Class Schedule
Depending on individual circumstances, some of our teachers may need to ask their students to wear masks.
The Art Center offers adult classes in a variety of media throughout the year, primarily in the summer months. These are taught by well-known artists from the area and beyond, as well as by Art Center artists. Intergenerational and youth classes are provided as well.

If you would like to register for a class, you can contact the Art Center by phone and pay with a credit card (during gallery hours), drop by the gallery in person to pay by check/cash, pay by check through the mail, or use online registration/payment by using the sign-up links provided below. You will be provided a secure connection to PayPal for credit card payment.

Landscape Painting in Oil or Pastel – From Photos
With Cliff Austin
This exciting two-day workshop will give students the opportunity to explore various techniques in oil and pastel for approaching landscape painting and for planning ahead… including creating notans. In addition to “how to” demos (in both oil and pastels) and tutorials designed for each individual’s natural way with either medium, there will be plenty of one on one and ongoing critique.
Cliff is an award-winning fine artist whose studio is in Aurora, CO. A graduate of the Denver Institute of Technology and the Rocky Mountain School of Art, he has been painting (both in studio and en plein air) and illustrating since 1980.

"Stone Wrapping"
with Carrie Botto
Welcome to Stone Wrapping! I’m Carrie and I’m thrilled to bring you on this journey. Together we’ll explore the symbolic nature of wrapped stones and their many uses.
During class you will learn several foundational knots, which you will then be able to apply in your own way. There are plenty of rocks and lots of material to go around. I supply everything you will need. You’ll leave class with an average of 3-8 wrapped stones. I ask that you come to class with an open mind, a curious spirit and space in your heart to make mistakes- you’re learning! I can’t wait to meet you and see the art you create.
Carrie, a multi-medium weaver, started weaving with beads 40+ years ago and just kept going, she says. She lives in New Mexico and currently teaches all around the U.S. from Ghost Ranch to Key West and now to Estes Park for a one-week, three-class, visit. Join her for one or all three of them!

"String Painting"
with Carrie Botto
Welcome to String Painting! I’m Carrie and I’m thrilled to bring you on this journey. Painting with string is done on wooden panels using various strings and or cord to create a piece that incorporates color and wrap weaving. Students will learn a basic wrap to start on a small panel and then given the choice of various sizes of wooden panels and a huge assortment of strings and or cords to experiment with.
I supply all materials as it keeps everyone on the same page. There is a $15 materials fee, payable to the teacher on the first day of class. The kit that you’ll receive includes a small panel to practice on, needle, double sided tape and a gift pouch.
I ask that you come to class with an open mind, a curious spirit and space in your heart to make mistakes- you’re learning! I can’t wait to meet you and see the art you create.

"Pine Needle Basket or Wall Hanging"
with Carrie Botto
Learn to make a Pine Needle Basket or Wall Hanging without using thread or cord! I’m Carrie and I’m thrilled to bring you on this journey. This class will teach you to weave pine needles onto themselves, without using thread, to create a lovely basket or wall hanging. Clean prepped pine needles will be supplied. You’ll also receive a small bundle of dried pine needles to take home with the knowledge of how to prep, clean and store them.
Carrie will provide everything you need for this class. There is a $20 materials fee, payable to the teacher on the day of class.

Chiaroscuro--Here Comes the Drama!

Pick any subject you have been anxious to paint. We will add the mystery of strong light and darks to your subject.
This is a wonderful opportunity to paint with well-known local artist, Cathy Goodale who teaches regularly at the Art Center in watercolor and oil. Students provide all their own supplies/equipment. Drawing an Interior Subject to Make a Painting

Find that fascinating corner of the room that has shapes you can’t resist. The perspective tools we will talk about will guide your way. Capture the depth! Vanishing points, value, color, temperature, intensity of color – all will be discussed.
