Rebecca Byrd Gilberto is a 3-year member of the Estes Park Art Center. She is a fiber artist who primarily makes garments. Her love of fiber, the southwest, and textures are displayed in her work. She has recently studied the art of silk marbling, which will be added to her repertoire of taking felting to another level. She has won Best of Runway Collection in the Western Design Conference in Jackson, Wyoming, Best of Show, and a Juror's award at the FACE of Fiber show in Estes Park, Colorado. She has been juried into the Uncommon Threads Show in St. Charles, Illinois, and in the Port Townsend Wearable Art Show, Washington.
Her sense of composition comes from her choreographing for over 20 years. “Dance and my fiber art are both 'flowy', using a lot of circles and spirals. I love the use of color. Georgia O’Keeffe’s art, along with the American Indian, are two of my biggest inspirations," she says.
Her work is also shown in the Weavers Closet in Estes Park, Colorado; Artemesia in Toas, New Mexico; and Fiber Works in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
