Del was born and raised in Colorado, living his childhood years in Fort Collins and Estes Park. His interest in photography was sparked by watching his mother develop and print images in the darkroom at Colorado A&M College. Although his career was in aviation, his interest in photography
never waned. Del took early retirement in 1995 and returned to Loveland, Colorado to continue pursuing his photographic interests.
His commercial photography business has included industrial, wedding. portraiture, and fine art photography. His major photographic accomplishments include publications in Style, Pentax Life and Range Finder magazines. He photographed the magazine cover and story images of a deaf pilot for Deaf Life Magazine. He did all the photography for a Nashville-produced CD and the cover photo for a locally produced CD. He was president and co-owner of the Colorado School of Photography and frequently judges photographic competitions.
His most satisfying photography is producing images that do not exist except in his mind.
