Marcia Tavel |

Marcia Tavel is a native of Greeley, Colorado who returned
to her home state in 1989 after 28 years in Toledo, Ohio.
She now resides in Estes Park. Over the years she has studied
drawing, painting and stained glass but she
has found the most diversity working in clay - her chosen medium since 1968.

She works in porcelain and stoneware using the potter's
wheel and hand building techniques.
Some of her work combines wheel-throwing, carving and hand-built additions.
One decorating
technique unique to her work is the overlaying of glazes to create a Longs Peak
motif.
While living in Ohio she gave art tours at the Toledo
Museum of Art, specializing in the history of ceramics.
She has won awards in juried shows in Ohio and Colorado.
