Betty Mapes

"The beauty I see in nature is what I strive to put on canvas. If I can capture a wonderful Rocky Mountain landscape, or wildlife in action, and share it through my art then I feel I have accomplished something worthwhile.

Living on Tahosa Ranch, adjoining Rocky Mountain National Park, I find inspiration for my painting all around me. The spirit of these surroundings is a constant stimulant that requires me to take up my paintbrush."

Betty was born and reared in Houston, Texas, and has spent the last 20 years in the Rocky Mountains. Her training began with three years intensive study at the Dick Turner Studio in Houston which was followed by workshops with the Cowboy Artists of America and numerous well known artists.

She has studied the last four years with Dave Wade - internationally known wildlife artist, Jackson, WY.

Her paintings have won awards, including "Best of Show" in Houston; "People's Choice" - Lines into Shapes National Juried Show, Estes Park, CO; and are included in private and corporate collections throughout Colorado and the United States. Commissions are welcome.
